Vijay K. Sood

Vice President; Executive Director, India

Vijay Sood moved into his current role as executive director of General Mills India in February 2012. He has responsibility for leadership of our operations in India, including ensuring accelerated business and brand growth in this key emerging market. Previously, Sood served as vice president of International  Innovation, Technology & Quality (ITQ) with oversight for the India business.

Education Cornell University, Ph.D., Food Science

Sood joined General Mills in 1983 as a senior scientist working on our Yoplait business. He quickly progressed through the organization, working in other U.S. Retail divisions, before being promoted to Betty Crocker products director in 1992.

In 1995, Sood was promoted to vice president, Research & Development (R&D) in the Big G cereal division, and in the years following he held various leadership positions in R&D.

In 2001, he was appointed vice president of R&D for the International division. In this role, Sood contributed his strategic vision and wealth of international experiences to help guide the organization toward a model of “One ITQ,” leveraging our collective resources, scale, and technology invention wherever it exists around the globe. 

Six years later, he was promoted to vice president of International IT&Q and India executive director, and assumed additional oversight responsibility for leading the General Mills India business.

Sood worked for Universal Foods prior to joining General Mills.
